Tentacles! - pattern

So, my first octopus keyring proved to be so popular with my colleagues that I've been making tentacles for almost everybody i know. *g* So many tentacled little beasties! But hey, it's not like I am not chuffed about this. It makes me happy that almost everybody at school is now sporting a knitted keyring. It's like a new mascot or something. *g*

So here, have a look at the little guys I've been making!

Tentacles!

Tentacles!

Colourful octopus

Blue octopus

Tentacled invaders!

Tentacled invaders!

Pink & Purple

Green & Gold

These little guys are all on ravelry, here, here, here and here.

And for those who want to make their own, here's the pattern. Any questions or comments (because I'm not entirely sure I explained the assembling & shaping parts clearly enough), don't hesitate to let me know. :-)

Download the pattern from scribd.com here, or click on the following pictures for a readable view.

*beams* thanks! And if you do make a billion of them, please share pics so I can see? :-) I have to say I love this pattern, too. It's so fast and easy and everybody I know now wants one so I think I've probably made close to a billion of them myself, lol.

Hi, I love this pattern - its so fun!!
I really want to try it but I have a question;
I am new to knitting and English (if that makes a difference), I dont understand the following instruction:
HEAD: "Divide evenly over 3 dpns. Join."

Thank you in advance,
Laura

Hello there. I'm so glad you like the pattern. :-)

As for your question, do you know how to knit in the round? With four double pointed needles? Basically, you cast on the 54 stitches, then you divide those stitches over 3 double pointed needles. Once that's done, you need to "join" so that knitting these stitches will make a tube. Here, I found a video that might help you. Let me know if it's not working for you, I'll try to find a better way to explain. :-)
